I have been managing the Client Services Team at the Appointments Commission since June 2007 and during this time have approached First Choice in respect of a number of temporary and temporary to permanent posts. These have been for Office support/admin posts and Recruitment Services Centre posts which are admin/telephone posts (NHS Bandings 2 and 3). I understand the wider office has also approached the agency for higher banded posts.

First Choice have worked with the Appointments Commission for some time and have a good understanding of the work of the organisation and the qualities and skills we are looking for to fulfill posts.

When First Choice have placed someone with my team, I have been provided with a named contact (Sue Morris) and she has maintained regular contact with myself as the client (by email, telephone and face to face visits) but also the individual to make sure they are settled in their placement, if they have any concerns etc. I think this is reassuring for us and the individual that First Choice remains interested in the success of the placement and the satisfaction of all concerned.

I liaised with First Choice quite recently regarding an Office Support vacancy which had arisen on our team. The person leaving had been placed via First Choice in January 2009 and has been an asset to the team but was leaving to return to full-time study. First Choice were able to provide 2 CVs very quickly for potential candidates, we saw both individuals and both were fully capable of taking on the role. We are very pleased with the individual who has been placed with us. She has been with us for just over a month but has settled into the team and has been quick to learn about the Commission and her own role.

One of the permanent Appointment Officers on our team also initially joined us as a First Choice recruit for a temporary admin role and has since joined the Commission as a permanent member of staff and progressed to their current role. There are other examples of similar promotions within the office which goes some way to demonstrate the abilities of those who First Choice place with us.
